Fruit Loops in a Jar

So this is a craft to do with little ones.

I tried an art activity I saw in one of the kids High Five magazines.  I nanny for. (I really like these magazines. Definitely worth checking them out if you're at all interested.) First I sorted froot loops by color. When I were done the table looked like this: I stole this pic from Google.. I forgot to take pic as I went along.

(it takes a whole box to make 8-10 Gerber jars.)
I then dumped each color of froot loop into its own baggie. The idea was to crush the fruit loops to dust inside the baggies. I learned that it is very difficult to crush froot loops into dust. Also, I recommend freezer bags rather than the regular type. Mine began leaking dust before I was done.   Finally I got out a mortar and pestle and finished it up. So, after much effort and I finally ended up with this very pretty result:

I spooned the "fruit loop dust", into baby food jars to create a decorative end product. I liked the activity and the jars are actually quite pretty. I cut a square of scrap cloth on the lid with super glue to hide the Gerber name all of the jar lid.

Its a Great idea for kids to sprinkle them on their yogurt or ice cream! I gave these as Christmas gifts to the men in my family and they liked them.

  1. Cute Idea! I never would have thought of doing something like this. My kids are huge yogurt kids so they would enjoy doing something like this, especially knowing its fruit loops! :)
