Crochet!

I learned how to crochet from my neighbor she is still in my life even though she is in TN and I here in WA. I had not done it in a long time 4-5years. I decided to get back into it. I started Sunday night making a neat curtain. Not like any normal curtain. I will take pictures this coming up weekend of what i have done so far. I was much better back in the day. So cross ur fingers for this to look cool...maybe even decent. I only bought one thing of yarn but I know by experience it will take more than that. So I am telling you this so I dont stop. I want to finish this project and I cant wait to see what it will look like finished. :)
Maybe if I keep at it ill be able to do blankets and hats and scarves?

Healthy Snacks

Here is a simple craft to do with 3+ age kids.
Fruit Kabob.
Just need fruit
and sticks

here is pictures of how we did ours.

I first cut them into pieces so the kids could pick what they wanted. I put them in this bowl.

Next pic shows the kids putting the fruit on the sticks.
This is the 5 year old adding fruit to hers.
This is the 3 year old he kept stabbing himself but after 3-4 times he learned quickly.
Here is the finished project. Simple and very easy to eat. The kids could not wait to eat them.

Note; Their parents wont let them eat any sugar. The 5 year old cant have dairy or peanuts. So coming up with ideas is a little hard for them to eat. LOL!

Birthday Banner

You will need;
Scrapbook paper
Craft scissor
Letters Stickers
Ribbons
Hole puncher

Cut ur scrapbook paper in squares that fit your letters you will be putting on them. I used a fancy scissors to make the edges look neat.
The put ur letters on.
You will now want to punch holes on the top. I did one on the left and right.
Put the ribbon in and out of the holes and then ur ready to hang it up.

This was taken with my cell. It looks a lot better in person.

Parfait Snack!

You will need:
Blueberries
Strawberries
Yogurt
Granola

First add the yogurt (of your choice)
Then add the fruit
I added more yogurt on top of my fruit
Then some granola on top.

I used Weight Watchers Yogurt
Raspberries Cheesecake
and
Berry Mix
So it was more flavorful

Carrot Patch

This is a great craft for kids for EASTER. Plus its VERY healthy.

All you need is Small carrots and hummus!
I bought clear cups so you can see what I did. I plan on doing this with the two kids I nanny. I will let them decorate the outside as they want. Then ..
put the hummus in the cup add the carrot upward in the cup so it looks like its growing out of the cup from the hummus.

Here is how mine came out without the cup being decorated.

For more details for older kids.. you can take a toothpick and make a little hole on top and put some green herbs/parsley on top to look like a real carrot in the ground.
The kids I Nanny are 3 and 5 so not old enough to be THAT detailed yet lol! :)
Now you can have the kids eat their healthy snack.

Vegetarian!

Hello,
I recently started to make myself eat better and Ive talked to 3 different girls. They told me dairy is the number one thing that makes you gain weight. So I have cut all dairy out. I do drink soy - light, vanilla flavor milk. I took this image off of google.. but this is the milk I buy!

Ive stopped eating sugary cereal. At Fred Meyer in the organic, health section you can find granola cereal. My favorite is natural. But there are 4-5 different other kind to pick from. I usually eat my cereal with some fruit like Bananas or Raisins. Stole this from Google also..I like this brand!

I recently bought vegan eggs, Forgot where I bought my eggs from but ill post it tonight or Tuesday.

I know I can buy vegan cheese but I have not went looking for it just yet.

I was at 130.8 around Christmas. I am now at 128.8 YAY :)
I do still eat chicken and some fish but not very often. I love this one thing me and my husband created.

You need tortilla, Natural salsa- I buy mine at win-co, pepperoncinis and tortilla crusted cod... i like the medium spicy kind.
I like my tortilla's heated in the microwave for 15-25 seconds then put ur cod in with ur toppings and you got a very tasty treat. I dont have a picture of what mine look like but ill cook it soon and take one then for you all to see! Thanks for reading.

Candle Project

This project is easy and fun to do with a 4+ child.

First you need some Mason Jars or Candle Jar.
Tissue Paper, I used Red, Green and White for Christmas!
Mod Podge, I used the glitter kind to give it a different effect.
Here is 3 different kinds they have you can also use.

Cut up the tissue paper in different shapes. It help the kids learn their shapes as you cut them out.

Next get a paint brush and the Jar you've picked to decorate the outside of.
Take the paint brush and start putting the mod podge on the jar in small areas put the paper on the jar then repeat over the paper so it stays on the jar.
Let it dry for 4-5 hours.
repeat another coat to make sure it stays on.
If you decorated a Mason Jar. With Red, Green and White it should look like this...

You will want to wash ur paintbrush right away or they will be stick as brick.
I hope you enjoy this.

Smore's Cake In A Jar - My Version!

1 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs.
1/2 stick of butter.
Pinch of salt.

Then Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Spray the Mason Jars with non0stick spray
Then put the Graham crust into the jars.

The cake part. I used...
Betty Crocker Complete Desserts
          Triple Chocolate
       Hot Fudge Cake Mix

Once you fill the jars just a little under the 6 mark on the 16oz Jars you put the Mason Jars in a glass pan with some water in it then you can put all that in the oven id say 25-37 minutes depending on ur oven.
Oh so goood :)

Toppings:

Marshmallows

Press Large Marshmallows down on top. Beware Jars will be VERY hoy DONT BURN YOUR HANDS. I put 4-6 large marshmallows in my jars. Then turn your broiler on and put them back in for 1-2 minutes. Just till they are brown or how ever you like them! :)

This is how it should look!

Fruit Loops in a Jar

So this is a craft to do with little ones.

I tried an art activity I saw in one of the kids High Five magazines.  I nanny for. (I really like these magazines. Definitely worth checking them out if you're at all interested.) First I sorted froot loops by color. When I were done the table looked like this: I stole this pic from Google.. I forgot to take pic as I went along.

(it takes a whole box to make 8-10 Gerber jars.)
I then dumped each color of froot loop into its own baggie. The idea was to crush the fruit loops to dust inside the baggies. I learned that it is very difficult to crush froot loops into dust. Also, I recommend freezer bags rather than the regular type. Mine began leaking dust before I was done.   Finally I got out a mortar and pestle and finished it up. So, after much effort and I finally ended up with this very pretty result:

I spooned the "fruit loop dust", into baby food jars to create a decorative end product. I liked the activity and the jars are actually quite pretty. I cut a square of scrap cloth on the lid with super glue to hide the Gerber name all of the jar lid.

Its a Great idea for kids to sprinkle them on their yogurt or ice cream! I gave these as Christmas gifts to the men in my family and they liked them.

Candles

Gel Candles!
They are so fun to make.
I bought the gel at Hobby Lobby. They have a kit you can start out with. But we bought a lot to make over 10 candles. Gel is easy to handle and very easy to clean up after.

You will need a hot glue gun, fudge thermometer, wick, tabs, gel, wax sand and burn safe decorations and of course candle jars lol!

Helpful Hints:
1. Heat candle gel in saucepan on low heat. DO NOT MICROWAVE. Candle gel is flammable.
2. Candle Gel pouring temperatures are 175-185 F
3. Fragrances and dyes may be added before or after gel is pouring into heat resistant container. ( me and my husband used a very large candle holder)
4. Wick and tab can be attached to the bottom of the glass with small amount of hot glue.
5. To secure top of wick, leave a few extra inches( this is a waste of the wick to me) and secure using a craft stick/popsicle stick. Lay stick horizontal across top of container and ( i did not do the wrap part ) wrap it around it.
6. For easy clean up, allow excess gel to cool in pan and peel out.

but seriously its so easy and so pretty once you start going you cant stop. :) Just google gel candles and you can get so many ideas you can create. I will be making candles for every Birthday and Holidays!!

Here are some of the first batch Ive made. The second batch was much much better. The color in these pictures dont look as bright as they really were.

Body Scrub!

So for Christmas I decided to make my gift for the men and women. For the women I made Candles and a Body Scrub.

Recipe I went off of is.

1 cup of Natural, Raw/Organic Brown Sugar. ( I just went to Fred Meyer and bought Cane Brown Sugar )
1/2 cup of Olive Oil. ( you can use baby oil.. but Ive seen too many bad reviews on it )( extra virgin is best )
8 tbsp. Honey - I used what I thought made it look good. ( Raw, Unprocessed )
Optional: Vitamin E couple of capsules. I did not use it in my first batch. I will try in my next batch.

While olive oil and honey have been used in natural beauty concoctions throughout history, it seems as though they've just recently received the spotlight that they deserve.  Honey, a natural antioxidant known for reducing inflammation, is antibacterial and antifungal, making it great for acne-prone skin, and due to its ability to stimulate cytokine production it is also capable of speeding up the healing process.  It's great for lightening scarring and, as a natural humectant, attracting water to the skin, leaving it hydrated and soft.  Olive oil is rich in polyphenols and hydroxytrosol, one of nature's most powerful antioxidants, which strengthens the skin's immune system and protects it from oxidation.  Hydroxytrosol also slows aging by stabilizing the cell plasma membrane.  Olive oil is rich in oleic acid and is a natural emollient and excellent moisturizer.
